John was born at Majors Creek, Braidwood NSW 18 December 1853. He married Mary (Pagram) Pegram in 1873. She was previously from Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire, England. They had 7 sons and 6 daughters. They lived in the Monaro Region of NSW.
